To be a Stroke Survivor rather than a Victim
• Believe in yourself (the inner-you).
• You have had a stroke, you are not dead, get on with your life!
• If you want to get better, YOU have to work hard.
• Look to the future, not the past.
• Seek support (family, friends, church & other stroke survivors).
• Have a sense of humor.
• You must be able to laugh at yourself.
• Your whole body doesn’t work doesn’t mean that you can’t be a whole person.
• If what you do doesn’t work, try again, again and again.
• Push your brain.
• You must re-learn basic skills in order to regain higher skills.
• Be adaptable, find a new niche in life, and be happy.
